Antique 19th Century Japanese Imari Arita Reticulated Floral Charger Plate
A gorgeous rare 19th-Century Japanese Imari porcelain octagonal reticulated charger plate or dish with hand painted floral decorations in the traditional Imari colors. Maker's mark on reverse. A previous owner has done extensive research translating the marks on an attached paper label: Artist's name, dated 1870-1880, made in the town of Arita in the former Hizen Province. This fine large plate has a lovely pierced openwork design and scalloped edges and is quite heavy, weighing over 2.5 lbs. The reverse is also decorated in a variation of the color palette. It displays beautifully, perfect hung on a wall or used as a table centerpiece.
