19th Century French Yellow & Green Drippy Glaze Confit Pot

A rare antique 19th century French terracotta confit pot with lovely yellow and drippy green glaze from the South of France, Castelnaudary. There is a drainage hole on the base. This is a very rare and highly collectible confit pot with the drippy glaze. This pot or planter is hand thrown with charming handles known as 'ears'. These jars were used for storing and preserving cooked meat. It displays beautifully, perfect with a bouquet of flowers or used in the kitchen to hold utensils. It would also look fabulous in a grouping with other confit pots of various sizes, as shown in the last photo.

Very good antique condition minor chips and wear consistent with age.
