A superb antique Dutch Delft faience lidded soup tureen. Maker's mark on reverse featuring an axe or hatchet, denoting it's factory, De Porceleyne Bijl (The Porcelain Axe), active 1657-1803. This rare tureen is in excellent antique condition with fine hand painted birds, flowers, leaves, and ornate scrolls in brilliant blue and white colors. It would make a stunning centerpiece on a table or buffet and would be beautiful added to a Delft collection.
